Dental implant is an artificial root.
It has 3 parts … an implant screw which is placed inside the bone , abutment which is placed on the screw to place a crown , and crown.
Normally when we lose tooth the bone gets depleted and teeth adjacent would tend to fall into this space and there is change in the alignment of teeth due to drifting of teeth . so it is always adviced to fill the gaps rather than leaving them as such . There are several options from removable denture , bridge to implants . Implants act as natural roots maintaining the bone and functioning like natural tooth.
