The 5 Stages of Invisalign Treatment

If you are considering straightening your teeth and are on the journey to find more about the same, you need to consider Invisalign. Wearing Invisalign is not only aesthetic but a very useful procedure that can treat your misaligned teeth. Here are the 5 stages of Invisalign treatment.

Step 1 – Talk to Your Dentist and Get to know more about Invisalign

As you find out from your dentist about your misaligned teeth, you can ask them about various teeth alignment options. Your dentist would let you know if you qualify for Invisalign treatment. This is because Invisalign alone may not be suitable in a minority of complex misaligned teeth cases. If your dentist recommends Invisalign treatment, go for it. As a first process, get to know the concept of Invisalign, how they work in bringing your teeth to desired alignment, its advantages, its aesthetic appeal, etc.

Step 2 – Plan Your Customized Invisalign Treatment

Plan your customized Invisalign treatment with inputs from your dentist. In this process, your dentist will ask you to get a digital x-ray image of your teeth, imprints, and pictures inside and outside the mouth area. The details are then accessed and the proper treatment layout will be explained. The step-by-step movement of your teeth through the treatment plan will also be explained elaborately. The movement provides the basis for making a customized set of aligners for every two weeks through the entire treatment plan. The length of the treatment plan and as per that the number of the set of aligners can differ from person to person based on the complexity of their misalignment.

Step 3 – Wear the Invisalign

As your first set of Invisalign arrives, your dentist will provide you with clear instructions on how to wear them, how long to wear them through the day, how to maintain them, etc. Follow all the instructions diligently.

Step 4 – Change to New Aligners and Visit your Dentist

As instructed by your dentist, change the aligners every two weeks or as per special instructions as given by your dentist. Follow your dental visit plan as advised by your dentist. Never skip your dental visit at all. Your dentist will check the progress of your teeth alignment and ensure that the movement of the teeth is as per the treatment plan devised. Once your treatment plan is over, you can now check for yourself on how your teeth have aligned. Congratulations! You now have straight teeth.

Step 5 – Wear the Retainers

Your dentist will ask you to move to the final stage of wearing retainers. Retainers help you retain the progress you have made after getting treated for your misalignment problem. Wearing them is recommended to hold on to the results of your Invisalign treatment. If you are not wearing them or have become irregular, you risk undoing all the efforts you have put towards properly aligning the teeth.
